Alkali Metal

Alkali metals are highly reactive in nature and it is impossible to find these metals in its original form in nature. Alkali metal has a low melting point and low density as well. These metals are,

Lithium Sodium Potassium Rubidium Cesium Francium

Please remember to memorize>> Married Lina Rubi Cs Frustration

These metals would easily react with halogen elements to form alkali metal salts and when it reacts with water it will form a very strong base.

Q: Why are they so easy to react?

A: Because in their outer shell, they only have one electron, and this causes alkali metals become very unstable (stable if 2 or 8). So in nature to stabilize their bond, they would bind other elements.

Summarize the properties of alkali metals:

1. highly reactive

2. React with halogens to form salts

3. Reacts with water to form a strong base

4. An outer electron

5. soft

6. Low melting point

7. This type of low-mass

8. Potential for very low ionization

9. Rate electronegativity: Li> Na> K> Rb> Cs> Fr

10. Level of reactivity: Li <Na <K <Rb <Cs <Fr

11. Melting point and steam point: Li> Na> K> Rb> Cs> Fr
